Solid Ink Mapping

When transforming color from the source to destination color space, it is common for color management to introduce a contaminant, or small amount of other colors, for color matching purposes.

Enabling the Preserve option for a selected color prevents use of contaminant colors in the reproduction of the selected primary or secondary color. In this case, the device link will reproduce the original pure color using only the same channels in the destination color space. In other words, the reproduction of any pure Cyan will be built only with the output Cyan.

If you wish to achieve the closest possible solid color match for pure primary and secondary colors, choose Use Color Managed Solid.

While the Preserve option does restrict contamination, it also scales the original solid primary and secondary channel values to achieve the closest color match. This is especially common when the destination color space has a larger gamut than the source.

Force 100% Solid allows you to override any color scaling and force the reproduction of solid colors to 100% output. Please note that this option may decrease color matching accuracy of solid color.
